Ollie and the Bears
This winter Ollie worked with the AR Game and Fish Commission to update information on hibernating bears and their cubs. The bears were located using their collars and GPS. A helicopter zeroed in on the signal and then radioed the people in the woods the exact location of the (hopefully) sleeping mommy and cubs. Ollie crawled into the den, sedated the mother bear and dragged her out. Measurements and vital signs were made on the mother and cubs and a new collar applied if necessary. And best of all -- they got to play with the babies!
